About Christer Ericson

Hi, I’m Christer Ericson. I’m Director of Tools and Technology at Sony Computer Entertainment America in Santa Monica. We’re the studio responsible for God of War and God of War II for the PlayStation 2. We’re now busy working on God of War III for the PlayStation 3.

In a previous life I taught computer science at the Umeå University Department of Computing Science (with classes in AI, genetic algorithms, logic and logic programming, programming language theory, and a few other miscellaneous programming courses).

I’m a pretty active (and sometimes vocal) participant in the game industry. You can find me on various mailing lists and developer websites (such as gd-algorithms, and gamedev.net). I’ve served on the advisory board for Full Sail’s Game Design and Development degree program (since 2002) and on the advisory board for the GameTech technical seminars. I’ve also done a fair bit of lecturing at both the Game Developers Conference (GDC) and SIGGRAPH. Last, but not least, I’m the author of the book Real-Time Collision Detection (Morgan Kaufmann, 2005).
